Thin Glass

Hello World of Bongs Community, today we get to Colorado and talk with the artist Tyler Coghill (Thin Glass):
WHAT GOT YOU INTERESTED IN GLASS IN THE FIRST PLACE?
I have always been infatuated with fire since I was a child. finding a way to express my lust for fire in a creative way instead of a destructive was the biggest influence to start lamp working.

WHERE DID YOU LEARN YOUR SKILLS?
At the Evolution Glass School

DO YOU CREDIT ANY OTHER GLASS BLOWER WITH HELPING YOU ACHIEVE YOUR SUCCESS?
That is a hard question I don’t want to leave anyone out!
Yyclops glass, Levi Carter , Simian Glass, Dawghouse Glass, Liquid Glass Art, Joshua Rowland , Greg Bowen, Helraiser419 , Blake Livinoff. I know there are more! Shoutout to everyone I missed! Every collaboration I learn something. Even if it isn’t glass related I learn life skills .

TALK TO ME A LITTLE ABOUT YOUR STYLE.
I don’t know if I have any styles specifically . I’m new to the industry so I try to tap into every style I can . I love anything technical . any project that makes me nervous and makes my legs shake is the best!
My favorite stuff is large assembly, sculpting and clear work with tons of seals and fume. What inspires me is other artists that make clean and crispy work. Horror films, Graffiti Hood rat stuff and nature .

WHAT MATERIALS DO YOU MOST LIKE TO WORK WITH?
Clear tube. I also use lots of fume and frit for my work. I want to get into milli more though.

WHAT’S THE MOST BEAUTIFUL OR MOST EXPENSIVE PIECE YOU’VE EVER MADE?T
The most expensive piece I have ever made was a collaboration with Cyclops Glass. It sold for $1200.00.  My favorite piece was a scale replica machete that came with a sheath. The most beautiful piece was a sculpted demon hand.

WHAT WAS YOUR MOST EMBARRASSING MOMENT ON THE PATH TO “MAKING IT” AS A GLASS ARTIST?
Oh man there are so many embarrassing things I have done on this journey. Sticking a hot blow tube to my lips. Dropping pieces I have put tons of hours in. Catching a oxygen line on fire ..

AND WHAT WAS YOUR PROUDEST MOMENT?
Quitting my job to go full time

WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE TO NEW GLASS ARTISTS?
The worst thing that’s going to happen is it breaks, scared money don’t make money

WHAT’S YOUR FAVOURITE STRAIN/EXTRACT, AND WHAT’S YOUR FAVOURITE PIECE TO DAB IT IN?
Hillbilly extracts clementine out of my Unparalled glass cactus

IF YOU COULD MAKE YOUR “DREAM” PIECE, WHAT WOULD IT LOOK LIKE?
A monster style weapon

WHO WOULD YOU LIKE, MOST OF ALL IN THIS WORLD, TO HIT YOU UP FOR A PIECE, AND WHAT PIECE WOULD YOU MAKE FOR HIM/HER?
Nipsey hussle , anything he wanted id be honored

WHAT DOES THE FUTURE HOLD FOR GLASS ARTISTRY IN THE CANNABIS INDUSTRY?
I feel like glass pipes are like the fashion industry. We will go back to push bub styles and tall tubes then back to rigs again but who knows, there are so many innovators in this industry. The sky is the limit and space is the place .

IF YOU WERE SHIPWRECKED ON A DESERT ISLAND AND YOU COULD ONLY HAVE THREE ESSENTIAL PIECES WITH YOU, WHICH WOULD YOU CHOOSE, AND WHY?
If we are talking about glass …. a big clear marble to start fire, a lapped piece of flat glass to cut with and a thick pipe .

WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE MUSIC TO WORK TO/DAB TO?
Rap/Hip Hop, Trap. I love that it talks about grinding and hustling. It keeps me motivated.
