Subliminal Glass

Hello World of Bongs Community, Patrick Mc Dougall creates fascinating pieces together with his team at Subliminal Glass. Every piece is stunning and full of passion.
WHAT GOT YOU INTERESTED IN GLASS IN THE FIRST PLACE?
I first became interested in glass at a young age. The intricacy and mystery behind borosilicate lampworking consumed me the first time I saw a heady piece.

WHERE DID YOU LEARN YOUR SKILLS?
Most of what I know is self taught, although I learned the basics in an apprenticeship when I was young. I have also picked up a lot of knowledge and skill from other artists over the years.

DO YOU CREDIT ANY OTHER GLASS BLOWER WITH HELPING YOU ACHIEVE YOUR SUCCESS?
I accredit my team of glass blowers for helping me achieve my goals from the very beginning. Without my crew it would be impossible to stay afloat while simultaneously pushing the limits of our skills.

TALK TO ME A LITTLE ABOUT YOUR STYLE.
My style varies greatly from piece to piece. I have many different skills from intricate sculpting to large scale scientific assembly. My inspiration comes from the people and setting around me.

WHAT MATERIALS DO YOU MOST LIKE TO WORK WITH?
I mostly work with colored glass.

WHAT’S THE MOST FAVOURITE PIECE YOU’VE EVER MADE?
My favorite piece was the m710 minigun we assembled with Ram Mikelson last year in Florida. If was a feat of assembly and ingenuity.

WHAT WAS YOUR WORST MOMENT ON THE PATH TO “MAKING IT” AS A GLASS ARTIST?
My worst moment was probably having a rally expensive piece stolen off or table during a trade show last year. It was very disappointing to think that exists in our industry.
AND WHAT WAS YOUR PROUDEST MOMENT?
My proudest moment was probably the first time we sold a 10k piece.

WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE TO NEW GLASS ARTISTS?
Work hard and throw your TV away. No distractions and no excuses. Break shit and push your limits.

WHAT’S YOUR FAVOURITE STRAIN/EXTRACT, AND WHAT’S YOUR FAVOURITE PIECE TO DAB IT IN?
My favorite strain is currently LSD and my favorite piece is our pillar bong.

IF YOU COULD MAKE YOUR “DREAM” PIECE, WHAT WOULD IT LOOK LIKE?
I make my dream pieces everyday. One day chandeliers though!

WHO WOULD YOU LIKE, MOST OF ALL IN THIS WORLD, TO HIT YOU UP FOR A PIECE, AND WHAT PIECE WOULD YOU MAKE FOR HIM/HER?
I wish Bill Murry would hit me up for a Caddyshack Bong.

WHAT DOES THE FUTURE HOLD FOR GLASS ARTISTRY IN THE CANNABIS INDUSTRY?
I think large elaborated glass pieces will make a comeback very soon.

IF YOU WERE SHIPWRECKED ON A DESERT ISLAND AND YOU COULD ONLY HAVE THREE ESSENTIAL PIECES WITH YOU, WHICH WOULD YOU CHOOSE, AND WHY?
I guess I would bring my three favorite bongs, assuming there is weed on that island.

WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE MUSIC TO WORK TO/DAB TO?
Metal!

THANK YOU, PATRICK MCDOUGALL FROM SUBLIMINAL GLASS. CREATE MORE OF THESE AMAZING PIECES WITH YOUR TEAM!
