Obiwook Glass

Hello World of Bongs Community, we got to interview Lance Weber (Obiwook Glass), a young and talented artist from Colorado:
WHAT GOT YOU INTERESTED IN GLASS IN THE FIRST PLACE?
I started smoking at a really young age and I remember my parents buying me a roor for Christmas when I was 16 , that’s what started the addiction.

WHERE DID YOU LEARN YOUR SKILLS?
I learned all the basics and fundamentals from Darryl Lewis AKA Drlglass. I wanted to pursue dots which wasn’t his thing so a lot of my knowledge of implosions have been self taught.

DO YOU CREDIT ANY OTHER GLASS BLOWER WITH HELPING YOU ACHIEVE YOUR SUCCESS?
Pedro Grime AKA Grimeglass has been an awesome mentor to me , I went through some pretty rough life obstacles and he was there to push me to get on the torch and to not give up.

TALK TO ME A LITTLE ABOUT YOUR STYLE.
I really haven’t honed in on a certain style yet , I’m still having fun playing with free handed dot patterns.

WHAT MATERIALS DO YOU MOST LIKE TO WORK WITH?
I’ve only ever worked with boro , tool wise I use very little but my most used would be my marver as a hand rest for dots and my tweezers to pick the dots off.

WHAT’S THE MOST FAVOURITE PIECE YOU’VE EVER MADE?
My most recent pendant with the 10mm coin , I truly feel it’s some of my best dot work along with cleanliness , although there are still things I see wrong with it. The next one will hopefully be better then this one.

WHAT WAS YOUR WORST MOMENT ON THE PATH TO “MAKING IT” AS A GLASS ARTIST?
I don’t think I’ve ever really had a terrible moment blowing glass , I’ve had pendants I’ve spent hours on hours laying dots for them to crack but the worst of it all was when I sold my torch due to a breakup. Yes I know I’m an idiot.

AND WHAT WAS YOUR PROUDEST MOMENT?
Proudest moment would have to be when I walked into my 9-5 on a Monday morning and told them I was fucking done. I was a full time certified mechanic.

WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE TO NEW GLASS ARTISTS?
Just keep working. If it breaks make another one , if you make something you’re unhappy with make 100 more.

WHAT’S YOUR FAVOURITE STRAIN/EXTRACT, AND WHAT’S YOUR FAVOURITE PIECE TO DAB IT IN?
Favorite strain would be Tropicana from 14er in Boulder , it’s a Tangie x GSC cross and it’s ungodly . Head of honey absolutely kills it. I have a nice little daily jammer from The Wiscokid Glass.

IF YOU COULD MAKE YOUR “DREAM” PIECE, WHAT WOULD IT LOOK LIKE?
I don’t even know . There’s so many things I want to make, id probably have to say a super intricate mandala though.

WHO WOULD YOU LIKE, MOST OF ALL IN THIS WORLD, TO HIT YOU UP FOR A PIECE, AND WHAT PIECE WOULD YOU MAKE FOR HIM/HER?
Hmmm this is a hard one but I’d have to say my high school teachers , I was the kid that wasn’t going anywhere because I smoked pot and had no interest in what they were teaching!

WHAT DOES THE FUTURE HOLD FOR GLASS ARTISTRY IN THE CANNABIS INDUSTRY?
DBK glass has something incredible up their sleeves , I can’t say much but it’ll be the biggest thing since the mothership fab egg in my opinion

IF YOU WERE SHIPWRECKED ON A DESERT ISLAND AND YOU COULD ONLY HAVE THREE ESSENTIAL PIECES WITH YOU, WHICH WOULD YOU CHOOSE, AND WHY?
I’d probably want a good quartz banger along with my postal glass traveler rig and some gel or paper if you know what I mean.

WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE MUSIC TO WORK TO/DAB TO?
My music taste is everywhere but right now but I’d have to say tipper is one of my favorites to work too. Keeps me on my feet and feeling bouncy.
