WHAT GOT YOU INTERESTED IN GLASS IN THE FIRST PLACE?
A friend in high school had a glasspipe .. nothing fancy a silver fumed spoon… but after seeing it I was hooked.
WHERE DID YOU LEARN YOUR SKILLS?
Started in southern Illinois, moved back to central Illinois.. moved to Colorado around 4 years ago.. started in 2005.
DO YOU CREDIT ANY OTHER GLASS BLOWER WITH HELPING YOU ACHIEVE YOUR SUCCESS?
I’ve always worked solo.. but with that said a lot of friends have gave me tips and tricks to help me get to where I am today..
TALK TO ME A LITTLE ABOUT YOUR STYLE.
I’ve always been so confused what my style is.. I’ve kinda jumped around a lot.. I’ve done sculptural work for a year, fUme work for a year, lathe assembly is my current style.. I’m really into translucent contrasting colors as of late.. really just dialing in every piece and evaluating it after it’s made and seeing what I can do to improve the next.. later this year I will start incorporating more graphic design cold work into my glass.
WHAT MATERIALS DO YOU MOST LIKE TO WORK WITH?
Translucent contrasting colors.
WHAT’S THE MOST FAVOURITE PIECE YOU’VE EVER MADE?
My favorite piece I’ve ever made would be a fUme storm piece from last year.. I was really going to town with attachments and making them all flow together.. very much jdz influenced.
WHAT WAS YOUR MOST EMBARRASSING MOMENT ON THE PATH TO “MAKING IT” AS A GLASS ARTIST?
Struggling to sell my work in the early years was hard on me.. I don’t know if it was embarrassing but not having food and rent money is kinda embarrassing
AND WHAT WAS YOUR PROUDEST MOMENT?
I was nominated in 2012 for emerging artist of the year by american glass expo and the flow magazine.
WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE TO NEW GLASS ARTISTS?
Work harder then the others.
WHAT’S YOUR FAVOURITE STRAIN/EXTRACT, AND WHAT’S YOUR FAVOURITE PIECE TO DAB IT IN?
I live in Colorado so I’m legally allowed to grow marijuana.. some of my favorites right now are grape god, gorilla cookies and sunset sherbert.. I dab out of my wife’s straight fab.
IF YOU COULD MAKE YOUR “DREAM” PIECE, WHAT WOULD IT LOOK LIKE?
Dream piece now would have to be a fully faceted straight fab with sandblasting and lots of flowing attachments
WHO WOULD YOU LIKE, MOST OF ALL IN THIS WORLD, TO HIT YOU UP FOR A PIECE, AND WHAT PIECE WOULD YOU MAKE FOR HIM/HER?
Most would prob say celebrities and f some sort.. I’m gonna go with just the guy on instagram who hits me up and gives me artistic freedom
WHAT DOES THE FUTURE HOLD FOR GLASS ARTISTRY IN THE CANNABIS INDUSTRY?
The industry changes at such a rapid rate these days.. I don’t know what’s next.. if I did I’d be richer
IF YOU WERE SHIPWRECKED ON A DESERT ISLAND AND YOU COULD ONLY HAVE THREE ESSENTIAL PIECES WITH YOU, WHICH WOULD YOU CHOOSE, AND WHY?
Desert island.. I’d have to go with a simple chillum.. a nice roor straight tube for nights.. and a straight fab
