Clarkie Clark Glass

Hello World of Bongs Community, let us talk with Zach Clark (Clarkie Clark Glass) a talented glassblower from Denver:
WHAT GOT YOU INTERESTED IN GLASS IN THE FIRST PLACE?
My older cousin was way into glass, back when color changing silver fume pipes were a big deal, I guess I thought they were cool.

WHERE DID YOU LEARN YOUR SKILLS?
I spent the most time at a small shop in Breckenridge Colorado. I’m working down in Denver for the time being .

DO YOU CREDIT ANY OTHER GLASS BLOWER WITH HELPING YOU ACHIEVE YOUR SUCCESS?
Honestly quite a few, the ones that stand out are Brian Backes, we worked basically alone together for years; Trey Wilson and Erik Vogel are a big influence on my work as well, we worked together for a while and it just clicked when we worked together.

TALK TO ME A LITTLE ABOUT YOUR STYLE.
I guess I would consider myself super technical, I love the process of mastering a tech. I never was impressed by a blue whatever, it always has to be more for me personally.

WHAT MATERIALS DO YOU MOST LIKE TO WORK WITH?
Northstar is my go to, every tube is made by me. No one makes the tubes the way I like them!

WHAT’S THE MOST BEAUTIFUL PIECE YOU’VE EVER MADE?
Anything with the imitation tech blows my mind everytime, it seems to get sharper and more intricate everytime I do it , so the most recent piece I made with that tech I suppose.

WHAT WAS YOUR WORST MOMENT ON THE PATH TO “MAKING IT” AS A GLASS ARTIST?
Having shitty shopmates has always been the worst part of glass for me, most guys are cool but I had a few of the worst experiences blowing glass with people who lack general respect for others.

AND WHAT WAS YOUR PROUDEST MOMENT?
I don’t have a proudest moment necessarily but I do feel a great amount of pride when I pull a nice piece out of the kiln first thing in the morning, than it’s downhill from there.

WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE TO NEW GLASS ARTISTS?
If you don’t have discipline its just going to cost you money.

WHAT’S YOUR FAVOURITE STRAIN/EXTRACT, AND WHAT’S YOUR FAVOURITE PIECE TO DAB IT IN?
My favorite strain is OG Kush, I like to switch it up but I guess my favorite at the moment is a ball rig.

IF YOU COULD MAKE YOUR “DREAM” PIECE, WHAT WOULD IT LOOK LIKE?
I’d make what I make now with more color , some more attachments. More Fillacellos and flips too.

WHO WOULD YOU LIKE, MOST OF ALL IN THIS WORLD, TO HIT YOU UP FOR A PIECE, AND WHAT PIECE WOULD YOU MAKE FOR HIM/HER?
Brownie from the Disco Biscuits. Maybe something he could do a bong hit while he does a backflip…

WHAT DOES THE FUTURE HOLD FOR GLASS ARTISTRY IN THE CANNABIS INDUSTRY?
Im not really sure, the industry is still just starting, there’s along way to go, I hope to do this for another 50 years and I’m not even sure what I’m going to do next week. Hopefully we see some more complicated techniques.

IF YOU WERE SHIPWRECKED ON A DESERT ISLAND AND YOU COULD ONLY HAVE THREE ESSENTIAL PIECES WITH YOU, WHICH WOULD YOU CHOOSE, AND WHY?
A big clear marble to start a fire, a heady cup to drink some water and a refined Klein because they’re great for throwing in a backpack

WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE MUSIC TO WORK TO/DAB TO?
Jam bands , The Biscuits , Phish , The dead; the super spacey stuff
