2 Pistol Crystal

Hello World of Bongs Community, we are back for a interview with 2 Pistol Crystal from Arizona. Together with husband Oil Glass Contraptions she creates sweet pieces in the glass world.

WHAT GOT YOU INTERESTED IN GLASS IN THE FIRST PLACE?

My husband is the one who got me into glass blowing.

WHERE DID YOU LEARN YOUR SKILLS?

I was lucky enough to be under the wing of my husband who had been blowing glass for 4 years prior. We’ve had a few friends come in and out of the shop and show me some techniques as well as watching videos and reading books.

DO YOU CREDIT ANY OTHER GLASS BLOWER WITH HELPING YOU ACHIEVE YOUR SUCCESS?

I am definitely not a lone wolf. Oil Glass Contraptions, Sandsurfer86 & Jordy Minnick just to name a few. I’ve also had the support of other glass artist like Bakersbackwoods Glass that I have been able to discuss technique, style and share certain skills with. I’ve been very blessed with the support I’ve had around me from other glass blowers and I’m thankful for all of them!

TALK TO ME A LITTLE ABOUT YOUR STYLE.

My style comes from the girly side of me. I’m a black everything kind of girl and this has allowed me to express myself through color and pattern. I’m showing the world the other side of me through my work.

WHAT MATERIALS DO YOU MOST LIKE TO WORK WITH?

I am truly a sucker for @rogerparramore colors. The pastel colors are on point and super buttery to work with. I tend to stick with paque colors more than anything.

WHAT’S THE MOST FAVOURITE PIECE YOU’VE EVER MADE?

I made a functional piece that I named “Full of Love”. It had multuple encalmos and pattern work. I really took my time with that piece and by doing so it allowed me to see what I was really capable of as an artist. It definately not only leveled me up but helped me gain the confidence I needed to keep pushing myself.

WHAT WAS YOUR WORST MOMENT ON THE PATH TO “MAKING IT” AS A GLASS ARTIST?

The worst thing is I have been publicly bashed by other female glass artist. Some that I have looked up to as well.

AND WHAT WAS YOUR PROUDEST MOMENT?

I had a customer send in a functional piece for a repair and there was no repairing this piece. It was a collab between my husband and I. It was probably in about six or seven pieces and I salvaged everything I could from it and made a completely new piece for her solo. Jason Lee reminded me that energy never dies it merely changes form. That was a huge accomplishment for me!

WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE TO NEW GLASS ARTISTS?

The best advice I can give is stick with it. Ask questions. You’re going to get fustrated but use it as a motivational force. You got to put in the hours to gain the powers!

WHAT’S YOUR FAVOURITE STRAIN/EXTRACT, AND WHAT’S YOUR FAVOURITE PIECE TO DAB IT IN?

My favorite way to medicate is definatley flower. I’m an old school girl who digs big bongs and it must chug! Durban Poison seems to be the right fit for me as far as strains go!

IF YOU COULD MAKE YOUR “DREAM” PIECE, WHAT WOULD IT LOOK LIKE?

I remember about 20 years ago walking into a glass art gallery. They had the most beautiful functional art in there and I had never seen anything like it before. You have to understand I came from a generation of metal pipes and plastic bongs. I remember this one piece and it had a mermaid inside of this vessel and it was fully functional. And I remember thinking how the hell did they get that damn thing in there. I will never forget that piece as it was my first experience into the artistic side of functional work. So if I can make any piece it would be to put a mermaid sculpted sitting on a rock within a clear vessel. It holds a certain type of nostalgic moment for me.

WHO WOULD YOU LIKE, MOST OF ALL IN THIS WORLD, TO HIT YOU UP FOR A PIECE, AND WHAT PIECE WOULD YOU MAKE FOR HIM/HER?

Honestly I’m just stoked that people see something in my art that they appreciate and they want a piece of me with them.

WHAT DOES THE FUTURE HOLD FOR GLASS ARTISTRY IN THE CANNABIS INDUSTRY?

The convenience of a smart rigs like Puffco. In this day and age people want convenience on-the-go. There are those who appreciate a nice heady home piece but for the most part I see things being geared towards being more convenient than anything else.

IF YOU WERE SHIPWRECKED ON A DESERT ISLAND AND YOU COULD ONLY HAVE THREE ESSENTIAL PIECES WITH YOU, WHICH WOULD YOU CHOOSE, AND WHY?

I’d bring a fire starter for sure. There is no way I can light a fire without one! A pan to boil water and a mosquito net because they will eat me alive.

WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE MUSIC TO WORK TO/DAB TO?

I work with all types of music from Rockabilly/Psychobilly, County, Electronic and “some” hip hop stuff. It honestly depends on my mood!!

THANK YOU, 2 PISTOL GLASS FOR THIS INTERVIEW. WE WISH TO SEE MORE NICE ARTWORK OF YOU IN THE FUTURE!
